Not getting much accomplished. . . .

I haven't been feeling very energetic lately so I haven't worked on any of the projects that I have going.

But yesterday I started feeling really terrible. . . finally broke down to take my temperature & it was over 100. . .so DH took me to the late night walk-in center. . .sure enough, I've got an infection.

So I am now on all types of medication & have been told to "take it easy". . .normally that wouldn't phase me. . but I'm so exhausted that I thought I would just write a quick update here & then go back to sleep.

Hopefully by tomorrow, or at least early next week I'll be able to have something to show. . .even if it is only pictures of the stuff that is blooming in my yard.

Take care,

Great Give Away to Check Out

Abby Lane Quilts is having a wonderful giveaway (that I happened on by blog hopping over at Pink Pincushion).

I don't enter alot of giveaways because, frankly, I've never been very lucky. But their patterns are so cute I figured I would give it a shot.

There is still time to get in on the giveaway (although I'd rather you didn't. . .it will give me more of a chance)! ha ha ha ha

DH & I will be travelling to a mud sale in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania soon. . .perhaps I'll be more lucky with auctions than I am with giveaways!

In either event, I hope to have some eye candy to show soon. . .creative endeavors have been pushed to the "back burner" while I have been trying to declutter, organize & "Spring clean" the house.

As for the stash busting efforts. . . . I'm holding at 9.55 yards MORE IN than I have used.

Sorry to have been MIA

It's been a while since I posted. . . my absence was not intentional -- I had a house guest that decided wires were fun to chew and I needed to replace all the wires so that I could get the computer back up and running.

Here's info so that I can bring everyone up-to-date:

Stash Busting

I've added fabric to the stash. . . but I need to find the paperwork so that I can put in the correct yardage.

More in. . . .none Out. . . so my numbers are again going in the opposite direction of how I want it to go.

Book Reading

Finally got caught up with listing the books that I have read so far. . . .I'm up to 5 books in 2 1/2 months. Not bad for basically just reading at lunch time or when I'm a passenger in a car.

If I keep up this pace I should be able to complete 20 books by the end of the year -- not counting the magazines and quilt related pattern books (since I'm only counting the novels that I am reading). . . so that goal is within easy reach.

Charity Quilting

I have completed a couple of items so far. I have to complete the binding on the second pre-quilted piece to turn it in this coming Sunday (the next guild meeting).

There is still a ton of fabric for charity items at my place so meeting that goal shouldn't be a problem once I actually have the time to get things done! LOL

Weather

There have been some wicked storms lately. We were almost flooded out over the weekend; luckily though the rain stopped enough so that the flooded areas were able to recede enough not to be a threat.

Hope to have some more pictures of some fun stuff soon.

I'll be talking to ya!

Stash Report -- February 28, 2010

Here's another boring stash report. . . .nothing added, nothing used.

I haven't even looked at my fabric or my yarn this past week. . . been playing on the computer and reading, so I have gotten some things done, just not anything crafty.

The numbers haven't changed.

I hope to have more to report next week.

To see how others have been doing head on over to Judy's blog.

Snow, snow & more snow!!

It started snowing Thursday morning and didn't stop until sometime late afternoon Friday. Yes, that is correct, we had snow falling for 24 hours!

Yesterday was a snow day as my office was closed. I didn't get much accomplished basically because I was on the computer & watching television shows that I don't get to watch due to working. No, none of them were really worth watching; but I just felt like vegging out.

When I was shoveling the sidewalks the snow was higher than my boots so I would shovel a little, go in the house to warm up and change my socks, watch some tv and then go back out again.

That was basically the extent of my day yesterday.

Two items done for one of my goals

Yesterday was our guild meeting. It was a "charity run" day which meant that the goal was to get some more charity quilts made up for our supply of quilts.

It was a very relaxed meeting with lots of food (have you ever known quilters to not have wonderful food when they meet?), talking, laughter and work. Sewing machines, irons, and hands were going at a steady clip throughout the day.

I store the roll of batting for the group & there was quite a bit of it when I got to the meeting yesterday. . . .there doesn't appear to be much left so I will need to get another roll somewhere in my travels.

I turned in the "Beach Cows" quilt top and the pre-quilted fabric with the bright pink binding. With that I have completed 2 of the 12 quilt tops for charity that I wanted to get done.

When I get the blue binding sewn down (this week perhaps) I will have the 3rd item completed.

In an attempt to clear out the charity fabric in our closet I have three boxes of fabric pieces in my trunk. I'm thinking that I will just work on using up those pieces (can you say string quilt?) so that I can get my trunk back!! he he

Hmmm. . . .should I take a picture of my trunk for this post. . .just so you can all see a "before" and an "after"??? Or maybe I'll just take pictures of the open boxes so that I can show a "this came from here" picture, I'll have to see what mood strikes me when I get back to the camera.

Stash Report -- February 21, 2010

I didn't do any sewing this week. . . .spent most of the time reading and sleeping. However, I did get a box of unused cups and mugs boxed up for a donation to the Lupus Foundation (already have a pick up scheduled so I'm working with a deadline).

I'm on my quarterly "clear out the junk" tangent. . .so DH has been trying to avoid me so he doesn't have to do extra work!! he he he

So the stash report, boring as it is, remains the same as last week:

Here are the numbers:

Fabric IN this week: 0 yards

Fabric IN YTD: 12.675 yards

Fabric USED this week: 0 yards

Fabric USED YTD: 3.125 yards

Fabric Stash USED YTD: + 9.55 yards

Stash Report -- February 14, 2010

Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, I added more fabric to my stash. . .but I have a good reason, at least to me! he he he

I added 2.675 yards of a pink solid fabric to be used as the background fabric for my version of the "Jelly Roll Sampler" quilt along (see my side bar for the link).

Here is a picture of the fabric that I plan on using for the borders and the pink fabric together.

Instead of using a jelly roll I will be using fabrics from my stash. . . based on the colors from the border fabric. Unfortunately this fabric doesn't have the color dots on the selvedge edge so I will have to play with the greens to see what looks nice.

My plan is to use all shades of pink, the greens that work well and perhaps some small touches of gray and black. In my mind's eye it looks pretty cool. . .we'll see what it looks like once I actually start playing with the blocks.

Ok, now for the report for the week:

Here are the numbers:

Fabric IN this week: 2.675 yards

Fabric IN YTD: 12.675 yards

Fabric USED this week: 0 yards

Fabric USED YTD: 3.125 yards

Fabric Stash USED YTD: + 9.55 yards

I'm hoping to get some sewing done today so that I can possibly start this week off with a "running start".

SNOW!!!!

I have an unexpected day off of work today. So, you would think that I am working on something crafty, wouldn't you?

Nope, I've watched daytime television shows that I don't usually get to see, washed dishes, shovelled some of the "white stuff", and played around on the computer.

I'm glad I filled the bird feeder yesterday; the show that the birds have been putting on today has been quite enjoyable to watch.

I am waiting for "Quilt In A Day" to come on at 2:30PM and I will probably do a little bit of pattern organization later.

Hopefully I'll get some pictures of the snow before too much longer. . .it does look like a wonderland out there.

I'll be talking to ya!

Stash Report --- Sunday, February 7, 2010

I will be editing this post later today with a couple of pictures, but thought I would at least put in my report.

Fabric IN this week 0 yards

Fabric IN Y-T-D 10 yards

Fabric USED this week 0.5 yards

Fabric USED Y-T-D +6.875

I did some sewing yesterday. . .attached the binding to 2 charity quilts (the fabric from one was counted last week so the 1/2 yard used was for the 2nd quilt).

We have a birthday party to attend today (postponed from yesterday) and, of course, today is Super Bowl Sunday, so perhaps I'll get the bindings sewn on the back of at least one of the charity quilts.

Until later. . . .

I'll be talking to ya!!

It's Snowing!!

Thanks to Mother Nature there is a bunch of "white stuff" on the ground. . .and more is falling!

I figure that there is about 3" on the ground and they say that it will be snowing all of today.

My nephew is turning 5 tomorrow & my sister was planning on having his party today. Somehow I don't think that is going to be happening.

Since I'll be stuck in the house for at least today I think I will work on something in the basement. . .perhaps I can get the binding completed on the 2nd quilt for my charity quilt goal; or maybe I'll just sit in front of the TV and work on my Jacob's Ladder afghan. It's getting close to being long enough and it is a very easy pattern so I don't have to concentrate on what I'm doing while I'm working on it.

I've got to find my camera so I can post some pictures. . . these picture-less posts are getting boring for me so I know you are probably bored too!

Today IS a good day. . . . . .

Today started out to be not such a good day. . . .we are waiting for the snow to start falling & the weather reporters are not showing any consistency with either the amount or the duration of this storm.

As long as it doesn't start snowing while I am at work I don't mind the snow. . .but I really don't like being on the road while the snow is coming down.

But, I just got some partially good news regarding an issue that has plagued me for the past 4 years. . . and it looks like the end is in sight.

So, today IS a good day. . . .bordering on being Great!!

Stash Usage Report -- January 31, 2010

Ok, still haven't gotten into negative numbers yet for this year. . . .but I did use a yard of fabric. . .partly for a block swap I was in & partly for making binding for a charity quilt that is made up of pre-quilted fabric.

Fabric IN this year 10 yards

Fabric IN this week 0 yards

Fabric OUT this week 1 yard

Fabric OUT this year -7.375

There are a bunch of other quilters that are stash busting. . .go check out the list on Judy L's blog --- Patchwork Times.

I'm hoping that I will be able to report an even better week next Sunday. . . because I am thinking that I should get working on some other projects that have been in the works.

For instance, I help teach at a quilting retreat every October. The retreat is held at a Baptist sleep away camp. I found a pattern for a little "goodie" bag that is made using 10" squares so I might make up a bunch of them as hand outs for those that attend the retreat.

Hmmm, lots of ideas of ways to use the stash. . . now I just need to get moving on getting them done!! he he he

Stash Report -- January 24, 2010

Woo Hoo!!! This week I actually used some fabric & worked toward getting a goal for 2010 completed!!

I used a paltry 1.625 yards of fabric to make a quilt top for my quilt guild charity program.

Here are my numbers so far:

Fabric In This Week 0 yards

Fabric In Year To Date 10 yards

Fabric Out This Week 1.625 yards

Fabric Out Year To Date 1.625 yards

Net Fabric Used This Year -8.375 yards

Ok, I'm not exactly where I would like to be as of this moment. . . .BUT I have started to go in the correct direction. And, with other projects that I pulled out of the charity cabinet I'm sure that I will be working on negative numbers soon!

I'll be talking to ya!!

Stash Report -- January 17,2010

Hi All!

Well, I added approximately 10 yards to my stash today. . .BUT all is not lost! What I added came home with me from my quilt guild and all of it is designated for charity quilt projects.

So here are my totals so far:

Fabric In This Week: 10 yards

Fabric Used This Week: 0 yards

Fabric In Year To Date: 10 yards

Fabric Out Year To Date: 0

Fabric Used This Year: -10 yards

Hopefully by the end of the week I will have some pictures of the items I have made for the guild.

I'll be talking to ya!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

I have a plan!!

I think I have figured out what I'm going to do with my cow fabric. . .now I just need to check the stash for more fabrics.

Hopefully there will be a picture of a quilt top before the end of the weekend!

I'll be talking to ya!

Design "Wall" 1-11-10

There isn't much on my design "wall" today. . . however, one of my goals for 2010 was to make 12 quilt tops for my quilt guild charity program.

I thought this would be a fun fabric to start with:

The design runs from selvedge to selvedge -- so I will have to be careful to make sure that the placement is correct.

Haven't figured out what I'm design or block I'm going to use. . . BUT I have a name (because of the way the blocks will probably end up) "Heads Or Tails" . . . LOL do you get it??!!

I'll be talking to you,

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Stash Report for January 10, 2010

Ok, so this is the 2nd Stash Report for 2010. . . and I do not have anything to report!

Fabric IN this week --- 0 yards
Fabric IN year to date --- 0 yards

Fabric OUT this week --- 0 yards
Fabric OUT year to date --- 0 yards

Total stash used this year --- 0 yards

I have been working on a couple of things. . . but the fabric wasn't part of my stash. I am a member of 2 on-line block swap groups & the members send each other fabric each month to make blocks.

So, I have been working. . . just on stuff that isn't mine.

Hopefully by next Sunday I'll have some positive numbers to report!

1st Design Wall Photo for 2010

Ok, so this isn't exactly a *wall*; and it *is* empty. . .because I have been trying to organize my quilting space and basement so that I can find what I want to work on.

Hopefully my future design wall pictures won't be so boring to look at!

I'll be talking to ya!

1st Stash Report for 2010

Ok, I'm really going to try to keep going with weekly stash updates. I kind of "pooped out" last year about 1/3 of the way into the year.

So far, I have not added to the stash this year. But I haven't done any sewing either. . . .because I am trying to get the basement re-organized AGAIN.

So here are my numbers:

Fabric In This Week 0 yards

Fabric Out This Week 0 yards

New Year, New Blog

Happy New Year,

I thought that I would start this blog to discuss my quilting. I also love to crochet; and I read alot as well.

I hope that you will find some quilting inspiration in what I post. . . . and will enjoy looking at the pictures that I post.

I'm not that familiar with blogging so I'm sure that I will make mistakes & probably won't be able to link to anything as easily as other bloggers do. . . .but I will learn & see what else there is out here to learn.
